Match number six from Vivo IPL 2021 saw some interesting moments and turns between Bangalore and Hyderabad, on a slow and tricky wicket at Chennai. Royal Challengers Bangalore hold their nerve off to take a six runs victory, over the one-time champions Sunrisers Hyderabad. Glenn Maxwell was awarded the Player of the Match for his heroics towards the end, and to take his side to a decent total.

Kohli’s men were put into bat first, by Warner winning the toss earlier. Virat Kohli started the innings well, and laid a brilliant foundation of 33 runs while facing 29 balls. But SRH bowlers kept chipping in with regular wickets, and kept the run rate under control all the time, but Maxwell’s heroics towards the later stage of the innings kept RCB in the hunt. Maxwell scored a brilliant 59 runs off 41 balls, and took the RCB total to 149 for the fall of eight wickets.

Jason Holder took three wickets, while Kumar, Nadeem, and Natarajan all chipped in with one wicket each. Rashid khan took two wickets and only considered a mere 18 runs in his four overs, and kept the rival team under pressure all the time.

Chasing a tricky total, Sunrisers started their innings well but lost their opener, Saha early to Mohammed Siraj. Manish Pandey and captain David Warner provided SRH with an excellent partnership of 83 runs for the second wicket. Pandey scored a slow 38 runs off 39 balls and Warner kept the charge from other side, scoring 54 runs in just 37 balls.

But after that, the SRH batsmen fell like nine pins to the RCB’s bowling attack. Till the 16th over, it seemed that SRH somehow will get over the line, but the young bowler, Shahbaz Ahmed, had some other plans. In his single over, he removed all the three big guns of SRH’s batting line-up Bairstow, Pandey, and Abdul Samad. From there on, it was a point of no return for the SRH batsmen.

Mohammed Siraj and Harshal Patel grabbed a couple of wickets each, while they conceded a total of 50 runs altogether. Captain Warner was unhappy at the team’s performance, and said that their middle order needs to work hard and deliver in the upcoming matches of the league. He also believes that they can improve in their upcoming fixtures. On the other hand, Kohli was very happy with his team’s performance, and the kind of start they got in this year’s IPL 2021.
