RCB won the toss and decided to chase against RR. Batting first, RR were off to a very bad start, losing their top four wickets for only 43 runs. Shivam Dube’s brilliant 46 runs off 32 balls and some late hits from Rahul Tewatia and Riyan Parag helped the team to manage a good score of 177 runs for the loss of nine wickets.

Tewatia scored 40 runs off just 23 balls, while Parag scored 25 runs off 16 balls. Both Mohammed Siraj and Harshal Patel took three wickets each, while Jamieson, Richardson, and Sundar picked up a wicket each for their team.

Chasing this tricky score, Bangalore were off to a flyer. Padikkals scored a match winning 101 runs in just 52 balls and stole the match from RR. His innings of 101 runs include six sixes and 11 fours. While Padikkal smashed the ball all-around the park, his partner Virat Kohli on the other end took his time to settle and after a while joined the party with Padikkal to score 72 runs off 47 balls.

Kohli also scored his 6,000 IPL career runs, and becomes the first batsman to achieve that feat. Following him is Suresh Raina, who is currently trailing at 5,448 runs.

With RCB winning the first four matches it played so far, they retain their top spot on the league table with eight points. Holding the second spot is Dhoni’s CSK with six points and Pant’s Delhi Capitals, also with six points, thereby rounding up the top three of the league table.
