The financial juggernaut that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is, shows no signs of slowing down. Their upward trajectory that started at the turn of this century has only grown stronger with every year. From the broadcasting rights to the title sponsor, every avenue of money-making for the BCCI has grown multiplefold in the last two decades. Not to forget the Indian Premier League which has contributed massively to the financial muscles of the cricketing board. With the inclusion of two more teams in 2022, many thought the popularity of the league would dwindle because of the dilution of the competition. However, the financial report of the BCCI for 2024, as accessed by the PTI, disproves this notion. We look at how rich Indian cricket got in 2024.
BCCI Bank Balance Rises Up To ₹20,686 Crore
India is undisputably the biggest market of cricket, drawing millions of viewers for even the most inconsequential matches, let alone the competitive ones. The figures for the IPL 2024 are yet to be released, but if viewership metrics are anything to go by, their upward trajectory will continue.
