Woah, that’s a lot of money. According to reports, LeBron James has agreed to a four-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers and will be playing for them on a $153.3 million contract.
According to ESPN, this is the longest deal that LeBron has signed since his days with Miami Heat starting 2010. In an Instagram story, James wrote: “Thank you Northeast Ohio for an incredible 4 seasons. This will always be home.”
While the number is astonishingly large, it’s not surprising to see such expensive transfers in the field of sports.
In 2016, Manchester United paid Paul Pogba €105 million, an amount that broke records at that time.
The following summer, Neymar was lured away from Barcelona by Paris St. Germain who paid him €222 million.
In 2009, Real Madrid had paid €94 million to Cristiano Ronaldo.
Fox Sports reports that Lionel Messi‘s contract was worth €151.7 million while Harry Kane‘s was a whopping €153.6 million.
