Fans Want Virender Sehwag Sacked After His Controversial Remarks On Virat Kohli

The video has gone viral on Twitter, and many fans want the broadcasters to sack Sehwag for his immature remarks.

Former India cricketer Virender Sehwag has stirred up another controversy with his derogatory remarks on Virat Kohli’s celebration during the rescheduled fifth Test in Edgbaston.

The incident happened late on Day 3, when Mohammed Siraj got the better of Sam Billings to reduce England to 267/9 in the first innings.

Billings misjudged the line of the ball and got bowled on 36. Kohli was seen dancing merrily in the team huddle. Mohammed Kaif, who was also in the commentary panel, noticed Kohli’s ecstatic celebration. At this moment, Sehwag too chimed in, comparing Kohli’s moves to ‘chhamiya.’

The video has gone viral on Twitter, and many fans want the broadcasters to sack Sehwag for his immature remarks. Apologize if you respect the game”.

“Sehwag used a slur that’s offensive. It’s not about who he said it to, it’s that the word he used is derogatory to a community that deserves just as much respect and fair treatment in society as any Kohli does. See the bigger picture and don’t protect him because he’s a legend,” read another comment on his remarks.

Earlier in the day, Sehwag criticised Virat Kohli for sledging Jonny Bairstow, who went on to score a century. When Bairstow was struggling in the initial phase of the innings, Kohli tried to unsettle him with his words. But the English batter did well to maintain his composure, scoring 106 to put England back in the game.

“Jonny Bairstow’s Strike Rate before Kohli’s Sledging -: 21 Post Sledging – 150 Pujara ki tarah khel rahe thhey, Kohli ne Pant banwa diya bewajah sledge karke,” tweeted Sehwag.
