You mention Robin Williams and scenes from Mrs Doubtfire, Dead Poets Society and Good Morning Vietnam immediately come to our minds. It’s almost been a year since the Hollywood comic genius’s shocking demise. Thankfully, audiences and fans will soon get to watch his last performance inBoulevard which is slated to open the Ischia Global Film and Music Festival on July 12.
“We are proud to inaugurate the festival with a long-awaited work. According to US critics, Williams delivers one of his best performances,” announced the festival’s director Pascal Vicedomini. “The first trailer of this movie — recently launched on the web — has touched the hearts of millions of fans who will soon commemorate the first anniversary of Williams’ passing on August 11.”
In Boulevard, Williams plays a married bank employee who begins to confront the emptiness that permeates his life. That mundane life changes dramatically after he picks up a young male hustler (Roberto Aguire) on a Nashville street and he is forced to face his long-suppressed sexuality. The film is directed by Dito Montiel (A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints) and also stars Bob Odenkirk and Kathy Baker. If the trailer is anything to go by, William’s performance appears to be one of the most heartbreaking movie experiences of the year. It played at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival and will be released on July 10 in the US.
The 13th Ischia Global Film and Music Fest takes place on July 12-19 off the coast of Naples.
