Ray-Ban, the globally renowned eyewear brand recognized for its timeless style and innovative designs, was excited to play a big part in the festivities celebrating contemporary music, art, and culture at Magnetic Fields Festival 2023. A brand revered by visionaries, culture shapers, and trendsetters, Ray-Ban has consistently been at the forefront of creating remarkable experiences, enabling brand purists to embrace their truest selves, none more evident than what was witnessed in the serene village of Alsisar in Rajasthan.
The annual cultural festival unfolded over a three-day extravaganza within the expansive grounds of the majestic Alsisar Palace. Spanning across a sprawling 10-acre expanse, the palace and its surroundings accommodate over 6,000 attendees, many of whom revel in high spirits despite the scorching daytime heat and equally chilly desert nights.
This year’s event showcased gourmet food stalls, art installations, drag shows, perfume-making workshops, early morning yoga classes, and, of course, a plethora of music. It also maintained its magnetic vibe at the Ray-Ban Desert Oasis stage, nestled at the palace’s foothills, amidst the vast desert setting. Over three days from the 15th to the 17th of December 2023, Ray-Ban treated attendees to heart-racing performances by various artists, both of domestic and international fame.
However, the highlight of the festival was the Ray-Ban Reverse Garden, featuring larger-than-life Reverse trees, creating a sensory delight for over 6,000 attendees. It served as a state-of-the-art space to capture memories and indulge in expressive art. Undeniably eye-catching and one-of-a-kind, the Reverse Garden drew inspiration from Ray-Ban’s latest offering – the REVERSE collection. Comprising four unisex sunglasses—Aviator, Wayfarer, Caravan, and Boyfriend silhouettes—the collection’s uniqueness lies in its first inverted lens, transitioning from convex to concave. At the festival, music enthusiasts immersed themselves in the Reverse Garden while grooving to beats at the Ray-Ban Desert Oasis stage.
The Ray-Ban arena featured attractions such as a GIF Booth against an attractive branded wall for capturing precious moments. Additionally, a DIY corner for Tote Bags with a live artist personalizing the bags, alongside a spectacular display of Ray-Ban’s latest collections including the Reverse range, ensured an influx of festival revellers throughout the day.
Attendees adorned the Ray-Ban REVERSE line while enjoying Warehouse Mix’s sets by DJs No Mo Soul and Tartaruga, kicking off the first day. As the night unfolded, rumours circulated about Ray-Ban’s secret event at an undisclosed location. Those who managed to find their way there were welcomed with beats from Hudson Mohawke and label co-founder Spencer, celebrating the 20th anniversary of their Glasgow-based record label and creative collective Numbers at this year’s Magnetic Fields.
The second day continued the trend, featuring Bahrain-based duo Dar Disku—Mazen Al Maskati and Vish Mhatre—bringing the melodic sounds of the Middle East. A standout moment was London-based Canadian-Australian DJ and Producer Jennifer Loveless’ breezy yet psychedelic set, infusing her sounds with a psychedelic twist.
Ray-Ban concluded the festival with sets lasting until the early hours of Monday, despite temperatures dropping below 10 degrees Celsius. Festivalgoers persisted in their high spirits, dancing away in thick trench coats, sweaters, and, of course, sporting the new Ray-Ban REVERSE glasses. The Solar Spirit showcases stole the headlines with Rishi Sippy, TaoFu, AAGUU, and Alex Kassian offering a spectrum of electronic music spanning progressive house, techno, disco, and trance.
