Zubin Mehta, the world renowned conductor of western classical music, celebrated his 80th birthday in Mumbai. The grand evening was organised by Rolex at the Taj Mahal Palace where the maestro was gifted an iconic Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day Date 40 in White Gold.
At the occasion of his birthday, the managing director of Rolex, Mr Dorab Randeria stated, “The Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 40, the timepiece gifted to Maestro Mehta is Rolex’s iconic model, a watch that is worn by more heads of state, leaders and visionaries than any other watch.”
The occasion was also graced by the presence of renowned faces from the art, film, fashion and media fraternity such as Shobha De, Maureen Wadia, Fahad Samar, Simone Singh, Shyam and Nira Benegal, Suhel Seth and others.
The city of Mumbai also witnessed the long-awaited masterful conducting of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra at the NCPA earlier this week by the man himself, Zubin Mehta. He is universally loved and applauded for his Western classical music and the main highlight of the concert was the violin concerto performed by renowned soloist Pinchas Zukerman, who enthralled hundreds of western classical aficionados at the NCPA, this week.
