How do you define fashion? What does it mean to you?

While fashion is different for every person, for me it is all about keeping it simple and classic. I pay a lot of attention to details and like to keep my attire very elegant, and at the same time, bold. It is very important to dress and look good, as it makes you feel confident.

What do you consider your personal style statement?

I like to dress elegantly and am particular about details such as getting the cut and pattern right for my suits. I also like styling my attire with accessories such as pocket squares, socks and lapels pins.

What was your last purchase?

My last purchase was a doublebreasted three-piece suit.

What do you think of men’s jewellery? Do you wear any?

I prefer wearing elegant jewellery. For instance, I would like wearing jewelled heritage buttons with a bandhgala. Also, when it comes to ceremonial events, I wear jewellery from Star of India and our heritage jewellery, which includes a necklace and a sword.

Do you prefer tailored or off the rack? Where do you get your clothes tailored? What brands do you favour when shopping?

I prefer tailored clothes, as I like getting the cut and pattern of my suits right. For Indian clothes, I prefer Raghavendra Rathore, and when it comes to Western clothes, I like the Argentinian brand La Martina. I also love shopping at London’s Savile Row, where I can get bespoke suits from the old English tailoring houses located there.

How would you describe the perfect suit?

A perfect suit for me is doublebreasted, with the right cut and pattern. I do not like boxy shoulders, and usually opt for a slanting cut. Also, I like thick lapels for my suits – I feel that makes the look more elegant.

Do you have any wardrobe fetishes?

I have a fetish for watches and have inherited my grandfather’s huge collection. I also love Panerai, for their perfect mix of Italian design and Swiss technology.

What are the casual and formal items every man must own?

Every man ought to own a good tailored suit for formal occasions. Linen shirts and pants are ideal for casual use.

How do you like to change things up for weddings and formal events?

Last month, I debuted at the le Bal des Débutantes in Paris and chose a white tie, three-piece tailcoat for the occasion.

What is one piece of style advice you would give all men?

The only style advice I would offer anyone is that while sticking to your personal style, do ensure that your attire looks elegant. Try to keep it simple, classic and accessorize well.

What goes into maintaining your hair and beard?

I keep my face clean shaven, but I pay a lot of attention to my hair. I do not use too many products for it, however, I really like a well groomed wet look with a side parting for a formal event.
