Fast five with Bonobo
Fast five with Bonobo

Simon Green, aka. Bonobo, on what to expect from his performance in Mumbai

What were your influences while making The North Borders?
The North Borders has a complete London kind of vibe. I think the main expression behind this album is the idea of the last outpost of a human endeavour.

How would you categorise your music?
I don’t think anybody likes having their music pinned down to a genre. I wouldn’t want to put my music in a box and put a name on it. I like to think that my music is broad, but then again, it is actually for people to decide.

This is your first time in India. What are you expecting?
I have always loved India, I wanted to take a year off from college and travel here. But this being my first trip here, I’m not too sure what to expect. It definitely depends on the city and the crowd. The more I trust a city, the more progressive and deeper I will go with my sounds. If I think the crowd is not up for new music, then I will just stick to a safer playlist.

What are you listening to right now?
Work by Dorian Concept.

What was your craziest concert ever?
Glastonbury festival was ridiculous! It was on a Saturday evening and we played for a crowd of about 50,000 people. It was crazy, with the amount of people, the flags, the smoke and everything…it was quite insane.
