It’s a sad day for Bollywood as veteran actor Saeed Jaffrey passes away at the age of 86. Jaffrey was among the few veteran Indian actors whose talents were celebrated outside India as well thanks to his performances in movies such as Richard Attenburough’s Gandhi and A Passage to India among others. Jaffrey was also the only Indian actor to do a Shakespeare tour, taking his company across the United States. His most notable performances in Indian cinema included Shatranj Ke Khiladi – for which he won a Filmfare award for Best Supporting Actor, Chashme Buddoor etc.
Several Bollywood personalities have expressed their sorrow on Twitter, remembering Jaffrey for the jovial and kind hearted man he was, with an unflinching dedication to his art.
Goodbye dear Sayeed. Started my career with u in Masoom. Cant forget ur kindness n enthusiasm for your art n others. https://t.co/NFlWdNIhl0
