Victoria’s Secret models who became icons, and are still defying age with their grace and charm

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion show is a sight in its own right. It’s a place for some of the biggest models in the world to show us just how they can be great ambassadors for any brand. 

 

The popular angel Adriana Lima’s turned 37 this week and we can’t stop gushing over her endless grace and radiant charm.

On this occasion, let us take a walk down memory lane and reminisce the best moments with yesteryear angels and how they continue to defy age, even with their prime years behind them.

Adriana Lima: The Brazilian supermodel started out in 2000 and holds the record for walking for the most of Victoria’s Secret Shows. Lima created headlines after admitting that she was still a virgin in 2006, during an interview. She’s also appeared in such shows as How I Met Your Mother and Ugly Betty. Lima has been included in the Forbes top-earning models list for four years.

Tyra Banks: The 45-year-old California native was the first black woman to have a contract with Victoria’s Secret, wear Angel wings, and wear the Fantasy Bra. After walking in as many as nine Victoria’s Secret Fashion Shows (including eight as an official Angel), Tyra hung up her wings. She not only executive produced and hosted America’s Next Top Model, but also hosted her very own eponymous talk show.

 

Heidi Klum: Klum took the world by storm as a brunette model, (which she changed to blonde). Whatever her hair color is, there’s no denying this German native’s sizzling sex appeal. Nominated for six Emmy Awards for Project Runway, she took her love of clothing and used it as a platform to help young designers find their way in the industry. She’s also made countless television appearances in shows such as Desperate Housewives, How I Met Your Mother, and CSI Miami.

 

Alessandra Ambrosio: One of the two current icons, Alessandro has stood alongside best friend Adriana Lima on the Victoria’s Secret runway for the past 16 years and she’s been an Angel for 12. The model, who just turned 37, was the first-ever spokesperson for the brand’s little sister line, PINK. She holds titles such as one of Forbes’ highest paid models in 2012 and one of People Magazine’s most beautiful people in 2007.

 

Miranda Kerr: Kerr, who is pregnant with her first child with husband Evan Spiegel, was the first ever-Australian model for Victoria’s Secret made her debut in their 2006 campaign. Since then, she’s quickly become one of the most globally recognised Angels. Post her last walk in 2012, Kerr has launched her own brand of organic skincare products, Kora Organics and released a self-help book, Treasure Yourself.

 

Naomi Campbell: Also one of the “Magnificent Seven” in the ‘90s, Naomi walked in an impressive seven shows during 1996 to 2005. She may very well have the longest runway career of them all, continuing to bring her icon status to select fashion shows around the world. Even at 48, she still influences millions with her confidence.

 

Doutzen Kroes: The Dutch model and actress started working for Victoria’s Secret in 2004 and became an Angel in 2008. In 2012, she came in fifth on the Forbes top-earning models list, estimated to have earned $6.9 million in one year.

 

Gisele Bundchen: the 37 year old Brazilian model had to walk in a single Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show before being brought into the Angel fold, getting her wings in 2000. She was a VS model for seven years and during that period she credited with popularising what the industry calls the “horse walk.”
