It was the year 2006. The famous Banksy had released hundreds of fake copies of the even more famous, Paris Hilton’s debut album, titled Paris. The fake Paris Hilton albums came with fake tracks like “Why Am I Famous?” and “What Have I Done?”, with remixes by DJ Danger Mouse.
Now, according to media reports, the infamous CD has hit the auction markets and Hilton wants a piece of music history.
“Banksy is an iconic artist and I thought it was really cool that he would take that time to go and get 500 of my albums and do that to them,” the original ‘It Girl’, Paris Hilton, said in an interview with Bustle.
“I’ve actually been trying to buy one. I’m trying to wait for another one (to become available) because they’re very limited edition. But I thought it was awesome that he did that,” she added.
According to Dazed, a copy of the CD was placed on auction via TateWard Auctions and sold yesterday for £8,750. The buyer is currently unknown.
In other news, Hilton is set to reveal the real side of her life through an upcoming documentary.
Titled “This Is Paris,” the documentary discovers the heiress opening up about a childhood trauma that she hasn’t talked about anywhere else. Initially, it was supposed to debut at the Tribeca Film Festival, which was postponed due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.
“Something happened in my childhood that I’ve never talked with anyone,” Paris explains in the teaser, further adding: “I couldn’t tell you guys because every time I tried, I would get punished by them.” The video footage also features her mom Kathy Hilton and sister Nicky Hilton Rothschild.
I still have nightmares about it and the only thing that saved my sanity was thinking about who I wanted to become when I got out of there,” Paris comments. As mentioned in the documentary’s details, the viewers will be able to see the celebrity “embark on a journey of healing and reflection, reclaiming her true identity along the way.”
