A dramatic twist of fate has made Ajay Jadeja, the former Indian cricketer and broadcaster, the richest cricketer in India this year, and his net worth now exceeds Virat Kohli's!
The 53-year-old inherited the throne of the Nawanagar, also known as Jamnagar in Gujarat, from his uncle Maharaja Shatrusalyasinhji Jadeja on the eve of Dussehra.
“Today, on Dussehra, I am equally happy, as I have found a resolution to one of my dilemmas thanks to Ajay Jadeja, who has accepted to be my heir." He added, "His taking up the responsibility of serving the people of Jamnagar is truly a boon for its people. I express my sincere gratitude to him."
Maharaja Shatrusalyasinhji represented Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy, captained the team during the 1966-67 season, and also headed the Saurashtra Cricket Association. He succeeded his father as the titular head of Nawanagar in 1966 and later married into Nepal's royal family. The cricketing lineage runs deep in Jadeja's family. They are the descendants of the great K. S. Ranjitsinhji and K. S. Duleepsinhji, two prolific names in the world of cricket.
His nephew, Ajay Jadeja, represented the Indian national team in 196 ODIs and was known for his explosive batting style. After his cricketing career ended in 2000, Jadeja turned to broadcasting and is currently one of the most renowned commentators of the game.
How Is Ajay Jadeja Richer Than Virat Kohli Now?
Having inherited the throne of Jamnagar, Ajay Jadeja’s net worth has reportedly catapulted to over Rs 1450-1600 crores, including his earnings from his cricketing and broadcasting career. If these reports are to be believed, his net worth now outweighs Virat Kohli’s total wealth of (approx.) Rs 1000 crore.
