Lessons From Pahlaj Nihalani For Prasoon Joshi
Lessons From Pahlaj Nihalani For Prasoon Joshi

Some sanskaari advice on Prasoon’s birthday: No alcohol, no drugs, no ‘intercourse’

Everyone (even Arnab Goswami) was glad that Pahlaj Nihalani was shown the door with lyricist Prasoon Joshi then chosen as the man to replace him at the helm of the Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC).

But it’s Joshi’s birthday today and Nihalani, being the man that he is, has some words of wisdom for his successor. Follow his lead Prasoon!

Stay sanskari

So first things first; one has to be as sanskari as Mr Nihalani to orchestrate things at the CBFC. ‘Cos it’s not for everyone to edit a kissing scene in a James Bond movie.

No intercourse

Shah Rukh Khan’s Jab Harry Met Sejal ran into trouble with the CBFC for having the word intercourse in it. Even Arnab prodded the man to say that word on his show but Pahlaj ji didn’t budge.

That’s the sort of resolve that Prasoon will need in the coming times.

No women rights

So Lipstick Under My Burkha came under fire for being a too woman-centric film. It talks about their sexuality — something that should remain inside the walls of a household. Are you listening Prasoon?

No smoking, no alcohol

There should never be any smoking or drinking on the screen, even if the script demands or purely because we are a free country. “We feel the superstars who are followed by millions and who set an example in societal behaviour must not be shown drinking or smoking on screen unless the provocation for doing so is really strong,” said the great Mr Nihalani.

Drugs? Shhhh!

Did someone just say drugs? Udta Punjab tried to shed light on the drug problem in the state but is it even a problem unless you think it is one? One should simply close themselves to the real world and let their inner voice dictate things. Long live Pahlaj!
