The Rocky spin-off, Creed, is definitely a promising boxing film, notches higher than what we have seen in the recent years

When it was announced in 2013 that director Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan were training for a Rocky spin-off, we were not too sure about what was coming our way. Another Rocky? Was that even necessary?

Then, along came the trailer of Creed, and we have to admit: this film might just become one kickass movie experience.

Jordan plays the son of Apollo Creed, the charismatic (and undefeated) world heavyweight champion played by Carl Weathers in Rocky. The older Creed was killed in the ring by Russian boxer Ivan Drago at the beginning of Rocky IV, with Rocky throwing in the towel just a moment too late.

Now Creed’s son is following in his dad’s footsteps, and Rocky (Sylvester Stallone – yes, take a moment there) is going to train him.

With a script co-written by Coogler and Aaron Covington and Coogler directing the film, we have our hopes high up there. The trailer packs in intensity and panache, Jordan looks every bit like Apollo Creed’s worthy son and if we had to watch another Rocky, this is definitely the best way to enjoy it. Hopefully, this will not be a Never Back Down which should have backed down after the first installment (not you, Cam Gigandet, not you).

Creed is scheduled to release on November 25.
