When Train to Busan premiered at Cannes, it earned a lot of appreciation and praise. When it eventually hit theatres in 2016, it was regarded as an instant hit. It made more than $2M in North America and took $93M globally. We never had a shortage of zombie movies, but a story of a high-speed train with zombies on board? Now, that’s the kind of zombie film we’re interested in. The film went on to become one of the best zombie movies of all time. So it’s only right w get a sequel, right? Well, we did and its first trailer is here.

The sequel, dubbed Peninsula, does not take place on a train or any other form of public transport. (*coughs* like the Speed franchise *coughs*). It actually moves away from that and continues from where the first movie left off. We now get to see how the outbreak destroyed the city and a look at the extremely scary and weird survivors it left behind. And of course, a lot of zombies. One scene that very well stays with you is where the survivors have made a cage where they put captured zombies and make them fight. Basically, a zombie cage fight. Weird, but entertaining. But it leans more towards the weird side.

Train to Busan director Yeon Sang-Ho returns to the director’s chair for Peninsula. No release date has been announced yet, but we hope the release isn’t delayed by the very real ongoing coronavirus outbreak.
