Henry Cavill’s Superman is widely popular amongst DC fans, but they are eagerly looking forward to watching a Black Superman in J.J Abrams’ upcoming DC movie. It was announced that the Warner Bros. movie will introduce an actor of colour in the coveted role in February. Zack Snyder, who is responsible for making Cavill’s film look so good on the screen, has now come in support of the idea.

According to People Magazine, during his Netflix film – Army of the Dead‘s promotions, Snyder admitted that he was curious to see how Abrams and Ta-Nehisi Coates execute the Superman reboot. He added that the move to cast a Black actor as the superhero was “long overdue.”
“My feeling is that I love J.J. Abrams, I love what he’s done in the past. I’m interested to see what happens, it’s a bold and cool and probably long overdue move. But I love Henry [Cavill] as Superman, of course, I do. He’s my superman,” the director said.
“I’m not really involved in any of the decision-making at Warner Brothers in any way, so I guess for me it’s just waiting and seeing what they do with this and how it manifests itself. But on the surface, it seems interesting,” Snyder added.
The much anticipated Superman movie is a reboot to Snyder’s original 2016 superhero movie titled Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and the 2017 released Justice League. The upcoming movie is being produced by Abrams and the screenplay is being written by Coates. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new film will focus on Kal-El, instead of focusing on a comics character like Calvin Ellis or Val-Zod.
Earlier, it was rumoured that Michael B. Jordan was being cast as the new Superman in the movie, but he shunned the rumours back in February. “You hear the whispers and the rumours and stuff like that and it’s just a compliment,” he had said back then.
