With Jab Harry Met Sejal featuring a song from American rapper Diplo called Phurr, we decided to take a trip down memory lane to look at instances where Bollywood producers hired international artistes for their songs. Most of these songs are pop numbers, and we wish that for once, an international artiste is hired to do something more soulful.
Akon was made to sing in Hindi for this song from the movie Ra.One. To be honest, it was as terrible as the film, and we feel so bad about all the money that gets invested in such foolery.
This one was a hot number, and one of the first instances of an international artist singing for a Bollywood movie. Young gets down and dirty in mud, in a promotional number for Bollywood’s cult heist movie Dhoom.
Snoop Dogg was apparently paid a bomb to feature in this video, and again we don’t understand the logic because clearly, Akshay Kumar is a bigger star in India and he can attract audiences on his own.
Kylie Minogue – Chiggy Wiggy
We love Kylie, but this song was just plain horrible. Yes, Chiggy Wiggy has an immensely sexy undertone to it, but overall this song was just as bad as the movie Blue.
Bure Bure was a foot-tapping number from Bluffmaster, and we still can’t get enough of this party song. In fact, we’ll go as far as to say that this was the best import.
