He’s quite a sport!

Social media can’t seem to stop discussing actor Vijay Varma lately. Given his prolific performance in Alia Bhatt starrer Darlings , it’s clear that he has set newer benchmarks for himself as well as the others. While we loved him in Gully Boy and Mirzapur, his dark streak in Darlings is pegged as one of his most powerful performances yet. Acting aside, he is quite an entertainer on social media too.

Since he has become the talk of the town, users keep tagging him in their posts and whenever he can, he replies to them.

Not too long ago, when he corrected Filmfare on Twitter  about a wrong post they did on him, his fans were upset. But Varma again clarified that it is a part of fun banter between them, and people should not take it too seriously.

Varma started his journey in the entertainment industry in 2012 with Chittagong. After studying at the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune, he shifted base to Mumbai. Apart from commerical cinema, he has also done a few web series as well like She and A Suitable Boy.

Varma plays the role of an abusive and manipulative husband in Darlings. In an interview, he spoke about his mother’s response to the role. Turns out, she reportedly went into complete panic mode while watching the movie because of his role. She apparently expressed concerns about his image too.

It’s been almost a decade in the industry for Varma, and he revealed how Bollywood is finally warming up to him now. He further added, “The underdog who came here ten years ago, is feeling seen right now. I took several leaps, risks and chances at the cost of almost breaking up my entire family. I ran away from home. So, they all feel a lot of respite now, they feared how I’d pull it off, it is not easy to go to Mumbai and become somebody. I was told ‘tu Shah Rukh Khan nahi hai’, but now Shah Rukh Khan has employed me for his film.”
