With Raman Raghav 2.0 releasing today, we chat with Vicky Kaushal on life, dreams and cinema.
What is the one thing you always desire?
Great roles. I really want to play a mythological character on screen, but alongside, I also want to be a boxer, I want to be a character in the Mumbai ghetto… there are so many.
One resolution you break often?
I try to follow a fixed diet, but it becomes very difficult to maintain that.
What is the one skill every man should have?
Humility. Because in any profession, people might be working with you for your talent, but primarily, they are working with you for the human being you are.
Share a life-changing experience.
In my engineering college days, I was absolutely unaware of what I wanted from life. We went for an industrial visit once, and I saw the boring 9-to-5 jobs we were going to lead in our futures. That is when I decided that I did not want that. That is when I asked myself what I wanted from life. That is an important question we need to ask ourselves. I am glad it happened that early in my life.
And your biggest regret?
No regrets.
Your favourite place on earth?
Home. There is no place like home.
What irritates you most about people?
Being fake. When you are saying something, but your eyes are saying something else.
Which are the people that have inspired you?
My father.
What is the word/phrase you overuse the most?
“For sure”.
If you could live someone else’s life for a day, whose would it be?
I would love to be Superman. He is my favourite superhero.
What are your fears?
I have a major phobia of being under water. I can’t even go towards the deep end of a pool. Other than that, I really fear stagnation.
What makes you happy?
When I give a good take. Nothing makes me that happy.
Your favourite memories?
As a kid, I would spend my summer vacations in my village in Punjab with all my cousins. They were beautiful memories.
The best advice you have received?
My father told me that “Give a hundred per cent to your present, and your future will be better than what you want it to be”. Leave the rest to God. That is the best way to deal with life.
