Today marks a decade of Varun Dhawan in Bollywood. And, well, as a form of raising a toast to the same, the trailer of his upcoming movie Bhediya was released today. The trailer tells the tale of Dhawan, a young man who gets bitten by a wolf, only to transform into a wolf as well at night! While this sounds dangerous and scary, the movie is peppered with comical elements as well. What’s more, Bhediya also features dialogues from the Mogli movie!
Here’s How Fans Have Reacted To The Trailer On Social Media:
The makers chose interesting shoot locations across Arunachal Pradesh like Ziro, Pakke-Kessang district, and Sagalee. Interestingly enough, more than half of the cast members are from Arunachal Pradesh. For instance, an Arunachal Pradesh-based rapper named K4 Kheko has reportedly sung and written the theme song of the film.
Along with Dhawan; Kriti Sanon and Deepak Dobriyal also feature in pivotal roles. The movie has been directed by Amar Kaushik. Speaking of the trailer in an interview, he said, “Our trailer gives a small taste of the enthralling adventure audiences are in for. Bhediya is crafted to be enjoyed in cinemas. It will fill you with a sense of awe and wonder, and tickle your funny bone with laughs galore. We are glad that it arrives in all its big screen glory soon.”
Bhediya is a part of producer Dinesh Vijan’s horror-verse of sorts that saw the release of Stree in 2018, followed by Roohi in 2021.
At the trailer launch in Mumbai today, Dhawan revealed how he was instructed o refrain from doing comedy in the movie, “Jab hum readings kar rahe the, tab inhone mujhse kahan tha ki aap bilkul comedy nahi karenge. Main unse punchlines maangta rehta tha but unhone kahan tha ki kuch matt kijiye varna log aapko seriously nahi leyenge. (During the reading sessions, I was clearly instructed to not do any comedy onscreen in the film. I used to request filmmaker Amar to give me some punchlines but clearly refused, as he believed that if I do comedy no one will take me seriously in my kind of role.)”
On the other hand, the Mimi actress says that this is a special film for her. “I would definitely say, Bhediya is one of my most special films and one of the best scripts that I have read. I had a blast shooting this film in Arunachal Pradesh. This look is also my most special. I hope this film does well at the box office and gets all the love from the audience,” said Sanon.
