Possibly the country’s most popular EDM artist right now, Nucleya’s most-awaited album, Raja Baja releases tomorrow. He sits down for a chat with us amid all the madness.

What’s keeping you busy these days?

I’ve been spending a lot of time in the studio, wrapping up new music for Raja Baja. At the same time, there are some really cool commercial projects that I’m working on.

How is Raja Baja different or similar to Bass Rani?

I have put some focus on English lyrics on Raja Baja, whereas Bass Rani was primarily focused on Hindi lyrics.

How have you evolved as an artist and what are your plans for the future?

With every album, comes a new set of learnings and I try to improve on them with the next one. In the coming year, I plan to share not just new music with my fans but also a great experience in terms of a fully coordinated live show.

What is your biggest achievement?

My management and I have pulled cheek and bone together to pull off this album launch gig on 2nd September. This is by far the largest show that we are putting up, in terms of scale, and I’m really grateful for the kind of response we’ve generated.

What is your take on the growing indie, EDM and hip-hop scene in the country?

It’s bigger than ever before and we need to encourage more kids to take this up as a professional career option. At the same time, we also need to create an atmosphere for their efforts to be appreciated.

Globally, which musicians inspire you?

There are many – Skrillex and Diplo to name a few.

What is your major flaw?

I sometimes feel like I need to manage my time better.

Describe a life-changing experience.

The birth of my son Guri. He just turned five this month, and I couldn’t have asked for anything better in life.

What is the word/phrase you overuse the most?

“Fuck that shit.”

If you could be a historical figure for a day, who would it be?

Adolf Hitler

One song/track you wish you had created?

Nitin Soni’s album Nadia. Every song on that record is just fantastic.
