A clip from the movie Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo! has gone viral. The footage shows Velma Dinkley, a much-loved character, crushing on women. If you’ve been living under a rock and aren’t sure of the whole story, here’s what you need to know: The widely-watched footage shows a designer named Coco Diablo crossing paths with Velma, and the latter instantly starts thinking about her. What’s more, Velma makes mental notes of Diablo’s characteristic traits that leave her besotted.
Velma is a part of the Mystery Incorporated gang, which comprises ghost hunters. She has been portrayed as a person who might not be physically strong but is the smartest of all.
The costume designer that Velma starts crushing on is a popular designer, who has designed clothes for villains. These villains have been chased by Scooby and his gang. In spite of locking horns with the gang, it’s evident that Velma’s heart skips a beat every time Diablo is around.
Here Are Some Interesting Fan Reactions To The Clip That Has Gone Viral
Velma’s sexual orientation has been widely discussed and debated, over the years. In 2020, James Gunn, who wrote the live-action Scooby-Doo movie, once tweeted that he made her ‘explicitly gay’. But Warner Bros attempted to tweak that by introducing a special man in Velma’s life.
Meanwhile, Tony Cervone, who was the supervising producer on those live-action films, took to Instagram during the pride month in 2020 and wrote, “I’ve said this before, but Velma in ‘Mystery Incorporated’ is not bi. She’s gay. We always planned on Velma acting a little off and out of character when she was dating Shaggy because that relationship was wrong for her and she had unspoken difficulty with the why. There are hints about the why in that episode with the mermaid, and if you follow the entire Marcie arc it seems as clear as we could make it 10 years ago. I don’t think Marcie and Velma had time to act on their feelings during the main timeline, but post reset, they are a couple. You can not like it, but this was our intention.”
The movie is based on Hanna-Barbera’s Scooby-Doo Saturday morning cartoons. Since Halloween is around the corner, the movie’s central theme revolves around the same.
