The future of MCU is looking…overwhelming

It was a pretty stacked weekend for the Disney camp at its recent D23 event in California. With a barrage of announcements coming from Marvel, Disney, Lucas Films, and more, it is pretty easy to get lost in the mix of things. To make things simpler, we’ve compiled a list of all the Marvel announcements (both film and TV) coming your way in the next few years.

1) Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

While the trailer of Wakanda Forever was released a month ago, it didn’t exactly clue us in on how the Black Panther sequel will shape up. According to media outlets who were present at the venue, new footage of the film was screened for the audience, showcasing how the rest of the world is now trying to get Wakanda’s resources, while the nation is still mourning the loss of its king. Added to this is a new threat posed by Namor, the ruler of Atlantis who seems to have waged a war against the African nation.

2) Captain America: New World Order

We finally have a new Captain America movie! Along with Wakanda Forever, Marvel also officially announced Captain America: New World Order, starring Anthony Mackie now donning the shield. Going up against him will be The Leader, played by Blake Nelson. However, what’s surprising is we may not see Sebastian Stan reprising his role as the Winter Soldier.

3) Ironheart

Yet another Ryan Coogler attached project (although in this case just in the capacity of executive producer), the Disney+ series will focus on Riri Williams (played by Dominique Thorne), who we might see in the upcoming Black Panther sequel. While details are pretty hush-hush yet, the show is described as a “battle between tech and magic.”

4) Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania

The faith of the world will again be rested on the tiny shoulders of Ant-Man, in the upcoming sequel. While rumors have been afloat for a while now, folks at Marvel did confirm that Quantumania will directly lead to the events of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, MCU’s next Endgame-like event.

5) Secret Invasion

Everyone’s favorite secret agent (no, not 007) Nick Fury is finally back after a long, long sabbatical. The first trailer of the upcoming Secret Invasion series was released online, showcasing multiple MCU characters returning, in addition to a brief peek at Emilia Clark’s character.

The event also saw a full-cast reveal of Marvel’s new rag-tag group, named Thunderbolts. The movie, which is scheduled for a 2024 release, is devoid of any plot details as of yet. However, we will see veteran actors like Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine) teaming up with David Harbour (Red Guardian), Hannah Jon-Kamen (Ghost), Florence Pugh (Black Widow), Wyatt Russell (US Agent), Olga Kerleynko (Taskmaster) and Sebastian Stan (The Winter Soldier).
