This Version Of The Mahabharata Is The Naughtiest Retelling Ever Made

Akshat Verma’s Mama’s Boys is a dirty remake of the country’s favourite epic – and we are absolutely loving it.

So, Arjun wins Draupadi and brings her to his mother Kunti, who, without missing a beat, asks him to share whatever he’s brought with his other four brothers, the Pandavas. We know that. Now, how about a version of the same story in present time, with outrageous Ram-Leela costumes? To add to that, let’s imagine Yudhishthir as an alcoholic pothead with a gambling problem, Bheem loves his dumbbells and his babe, Hidimba, and Nakul and Sahadev are a gay fashion designer duo. Also, Draupadi really likes the idea of getting it on with five (well, three, given that Nakul and Sahadev are interested in men) very hot men.

Akshat Verma, the dirty mind behind Delhi Belly, is back with a short film titled Mama’s Boys about Draupadi and her five husbands. Starring the likes of Aditi Rao Hydari, Neena Gupta, Arunoday Singh, Jim Sarbh and Vivaan Shah, the film is a tongue-in-cheek modern take on the country’s favourite epic. Hydari is smoking hot as Draupadi, perpetually teasing the Pandavas (and doing jaw-dropping dead lifts in a scene) while Arunoday’s deadpan gym rat act is adorable. It is appreciated that both Jim and Vivaan don’t act flamboyant or effeminate as the homosexual designer brothers. Neena Gupta as the nagging mother is a delight.

If you ask us, Mama’s Boys should become a web series. We would love to see more of this fresh take. Don’t you agree?
