Yes, we think Leonardo DiCaprio is a very good actor. Yes, there is no doubt that Alejandro González Iñárritu is a visionary director. Yes, Tom Hardy is one of the finest actors working today. None of this takes away from the fact that The Revenant, the film for which DiCaprio received an Oscar (finally!), was an over-long, overwrought snore-fest (a very beautifully shot snore-fest, to give credit where it’s due). This was something that people were reluctant to say earlier, but now that the objective of getting that damn statuette into Leo’s hands has been achieved, the elephant in the room can finally be discussed and dissected freely – as the good people at Honest Trailers have done.
