The Weeknd next body of work is now ready.
The musician has declared that his fifth studio album, The Dawn, is complete.
He has resumed his Apple Music 1 radio show, Memento Mori, with episode 18 and on that episode, after he made his apology for the lapse of time between the last episode and this, he made this revelation.
“I felt like I let a lot of you down by not continuing the weekly episodes I promised, but a lot has been going down, a lot of moving pieces,” said he. “Been settling in a new home. Been shooting videos. Been working on pre-productions for another world. Working on music for the pre-productions for the other world. Taking time to myself so I don’t completely lose my mind. But now we’re back.” he said.
He then goes on to explain how he comes alive in the fall time, after which he says, “I hope you had a great summer. Some exciting features coming out in the fall before the album drops. … Some Dawn updates: Album is complete. Only thing that’s missing is a couple of characters who are key to the narrative — some people that are near and dear to me, some people that inspired my life as a child and some that inspire me now. More to come in the following months.”
His recently released single, Take My Breath, is the first glimpse into his upcoming Dawn era. The singer had previously announced “the dawn is coming” at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards in May. “I just want to say: The After Hours are done and the dawn is coming,” he said during his acceptance speech after winning the Top Hot 100 Song award for Blinding Lights.
He also promised “some exciting features” will arrive this fall, prior to the release of the album.
