The upcoming Adam Mckay films has the best modern-day ensemble

Academy award winner Christian Bale sharing screen space with Brad Pitt, Steve Carell and Ryan Gosling? Seems to be one of those pub-talk fantasy casts. Until you check out the trailer for The Big Short. The film is an upcoming drama directed by Adam Mckay. Admittedly, McKay’s resume reads a bit different from most serious drama directors, he’s famous for directing outrageous satirical comedies starring his buddy Will Ferrell (Anchorman, Talladega Nights)

This time however, the director is working with three major A-listers and one Steve Carell – all of whom have taken on very different roles and looks than the ones they’re usually seen in. The film deals with the American financial crisis of 2007-2010, leading to the real estate credit bubble that brought about the recession. Bale is seen playing the role of Michael Burry, a quirky, new age sort of a role. Burry, a hedge fund manager and physician was one of the first people to predict the financial crisis. The film essentially deals with the inner workings of American Bank execs and what eventually led to the popping of the credit bubble. Selena Gomez and Marisa Tomei will also be seen taking on smaller roles.

The film is set to release in the US on the 11th of December.
