The Rolling Stones have threatened that they will pursue legal action against US President Donald Trump after he continued to use their music at his rallies despite repeated warnings.
Variety reports that the band’s legal team have repeatedly served the US President’s campaign with cease and desist orders.
“This could be the last time President Donald Trump uses Stones songs,” a statement read. “BMI have notified the Trump campaign on behalf of the Stones that the unauthorized use of their songs will constitute a breach of its licensing agreement. If Donald Trump disregards the exclusion and persists, then he would face a lawsuit for breaking the embargo and playing music that has not been licensed.”
This comes after Trump played the band’s song, “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” at his Tulsa rally on June 20.

When the President began his campaign in 2016, “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” and “Start Me Up” became a staple at his rallies, reports Vulture. However, Mick Jagger eventually stated that there was little the band could do to prevent Trump’s campaign from using their music.
“The thing is, when you appear in America … if you’re in a public place like Madison Square Garden or a theater, you can play any music you want, and you can’t be stopped,” Jagger had said at that time. “So, if you write a song and someone plays it in a restaurant that you go to, you can’t stop them. They can play what they want.”
The Rolling Stones aren’t the only musicians who’re miffed at Trump for using their music, however. Neil Young, Queen, Adele, Rihanna, and R.E.M have similarly expressed their distaste.
