The Rise And Rise Of Anushka Sharma
The Rise And Rise Of Anushka Sharma

Anushka Sharma is one actress who never fails to amaze us.

She is one actress who never fails to amaze us. Anushka Sharma (whose latest film Jab Harry Met Sejal released today) is now working on Pari, the film whose spectacular posters will definitely leave you intrigued, to say the least.

Pari, which has raised the bar of expectations, has also piqued the curiosity of the audiences with many exclaiming how it has an international look and feel to it. And to top it all, this is Anushka’s third venture as a producer, the first one being NH10 which was followed by Phillauri.

Anushka Sharma’s journey in Bollywood has been what dreams are made up of, and here’s taking a look at how the actress is reinventing herself with every passing year.

Humble beginnings

Born in Ayodhya (UP), she is the daughter of an army officer and began her career as a model, participating in a number of ad campaigns for brands such as Silk and Shine, Nathella Jewellery, Whisper, among others. In the year 2007, she made her runway debut at the Lakme Fashion Week for none other than designer Wendell Rodericks.

And then the next step was acting. The brilliant actress definitely had a dream debut with YRF’s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi starring opposite Shah Rukh Khan which was a box-office hit.

In her short career span, she has worked with all the three Khans; not that we’re calling it a benchmark of sorts for a self-made woman like her, but the fact here is that Bollywood is the kingdom of nepotism and if you do not belong to a film fraternity, it is a task climbing that ladder of success so soon.

Eclectic film choices

The actress does not ever shy away from choosing roles that are meaningful and meaty, as opposed to the usual song-and-dance and playing second fiddle to the hero that Bollywood heroines have always been subjected to. Her production house, Clean Slate Films, is also proof of it with the kind of subjects they decide to showcase on the big screen, which do not fall under the girl-meets-boy-they-fall-in-love genre.

For NH10, which was her first production, Anushka Sharma received rave reviews for her marvelous performance and was touted as Bollywood’s next big actress.

With Phillauri, she chose to tread the path less taken by portraying the role of a ghost in the film. Although it bombed at the box-office, the film definitely proved how Anushka plays by her own rules.

Her titular role in Matru Ki Bijli Ka Mandola (Vishal Bhardwaj) is also another example of how she chooses diversity above anything else. Bombay Velvet, which bombed at the box-office, showcased her willingness to experiment and so were her roles in PK, where she played a journalist, and Sultan, where she portrays the role of a wrestler.

Her poignant performance in Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil was yet another accomplishment because her screen presence overshadowed that of Ranbir Kapoor turning her into one of the most accomplished actresses of today’s times.

She doesn’t care about trolls

Her relationship with Virat Kohli has always been the talk of the town. There was a time when she received a lot of flak for merely being present for an international cricket match because according to a number of people, Virat got distracted and India lost, thereafter. Of course, this is a hideous assumption to make but then, when most succumb under pressure, especially with all the trolling and hatred that celebs are sometimes subjected to, Anushka did not even bat an eyelid. And Virat too came to the defense of his ladylove and proved to the world how no form of hatred will deter them or their love for each other.

With her career graph growing stronger and stronger, there’s nothing that can hold Anushka Sharma back. She is one hell of an actor who has always been reinventing herself and may she continue doing so.
