The magnum opus of director S.S. Rajamouli, RRR, starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR, has shattered box office records to become India’s biggest blockbuster. The film also stars Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in pivotal roles. RRR is a fictional story of revolutionaries Alluri Sitarama Raju (Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Jr NTR). On its first day, the film grossed Rs 223 crore worldwide, which is the highest opening day gross for an Indian film. Back home, the film made Rs 156 crore on premiere day.
Although RRR is the fastest film to hit the Rs 200 crore mark, there have been a few others that have also accomplished this feat in just a few days. Take a look:
The Kashmir Files
The much-talked-about film The Kashmir Files shattered many box office records since its release on March 11. The Vivek Agnihotri directorial has created history in the entertainment industry by becoming the first film this year to enter the Rs 200-crore club.
Baahubali 2
Baahubali 2 which was released in 2017 entered the club in just a day. The film had recorded Rs 217 crore worldwide on its first day.
Pushpa
Allu Arjun’s Pushpa surpassed the Rs 200 crore mark at the global box office in just five days. It was Allu Arjun’s first film to be released simultaneously in five languages.
Sanju
Sanju, a biography of actor Sanjay Dutt, directed by Rajkumar Hirani crossed the Rs 200 crore mark in its first week after grossing over Rs 120 crore on its opening weekend. In just three days, the film raked in a total of Rs 203.33 crores at the worldwide box office.
Kick
Salman Khan’s film managed to gross over Rs 200 crore worldwide in its first week. The film earned Rs 164.09 crore in India and Rs 42.85 crore in the international market.
Tiger Zinda Hai
Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s Tiger Zinda Hai crossed the Rs 200 crore milestone at the worldwide box office in just four days. The film raked in a whopping Rs 194.19 crore in the home market and another Rs 43.21 crore overseas.
Dhoom 3
Dhoom 3 grossed a stunning Rs 203 crore worldwide in just three days. The film earned Rs 142 crore in India and did exceptionally well in the international market.
Sultan
In just four days of its release, Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma’s Sultan entered the Rs 200-crore club. It grossed Rs 148 crore in India, with a worldwide total of Rs 206 crore.
