Cinemas are now at 100 percent occupancy, and shows are running house-full. Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi already created waves at the box office, with the film entering the 100 crore club. Now, Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files is creating ripples at the box office.
The film which stars Anupam Kher as Pushkarnath, Mithun Chakraborty as Brahma Dutt, Darshan Kumar as Krishna Pandit, amongst other stars, is already standing at a box office collection of Rs 27.15 crore. The film has shown over a 300 percent increase on the third day of its release. Not just the BO, the film is also everything that people are talking about on Twitter.
The Kashmir Files chronicles the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits and the subsequent genocide in the early 1990s at the hands of separatists. The film was released on more than 630 screens, and what makes the success of the film more celebratory is the fact that it is mostly due to word-of-mouth publicity.
Twitter users have been showering the film with appreciation. Many feel that Agnihotri’s film discovers a lot of untold stories buried deep inside the country’s history and at the same time makes people question the system. People have even declared the film as ‘the most hard-hitting film’ in recent times.
