An actor par excellence, Naseeruddin Shah has, time and again, proved how he is a force to reckon with and is undoubtedly one of India’s finest performers. The man who began his career with Shyam Benegal’s Nishant, Naseer sahab has come a long way. He is one of the few who spearheaded the parallel cinema movement with some hard-hitting films such as Masoom, Mandi, Sparsh, Mirch Masala, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, Ardh Satya, among others. And he’s also been honoured with some of the most coveted awards such as the Padma Shri and the Padma Bhushan for his contribution to Indian cinema.
But then again, if you come to think of it, his extraordinary career wasn’t immune to mediocrity. Many a time, Naseer sahab appeared in films which were really crass or you call them, B-grade films.
So we thought we’d make a list of some-such films that made us exclaim in unison: “What were you thinking Naseer Sahab?” Take a look.
This was the recent debacle that took us all by surprise. We can’t blame him entirely because even Vidya Balan was guilty of starring in the film that was probably a blot on both their careers.
We don’t really know what made him choose a film that has Himesh Reshammiya who is not only crooning in that nasal twang, but also acting in the same.
This multi-starrer had a huge star cast (including Sean Connery, Stuart Townsend, Shane West, Peta Wilson among others) but it was also a huge disaster. With that, we also learnt how an extraordinary star cast does not result in success. Moreover, we feel bad for Sean Connery who quit acting altogether after the film’s disastrous box-office results.
He played the role of a boss in a casino (Goa) where he also sported a hideous wig (dreadlocks), and some really gaudy clothes.
The shoddily-edited trailer will dissuade you to watch the film altogether.
