The day Swifties were waiting for eagerly has finally arrived. Taylor Swift has released her 10th album titled Midnights, featuring 13 tracks that narrate the stories of the “many sleepless nights” that she has had over the years. The surprise package is the 7 new bonus tracks, which will release along with the album.
Now, with the album release, it is very obvious that Swifties will be looking for easter eggs and cooking up theories about what the album is actually about. From her being Queer to her releasing a song about Kanye West, fans think anything is possible. We look at 5 such theories that are a possibility.
Midnights Is A Follow Up Of Lover
Many fans feel that Midnights is a follow-up to her album Lover. Sticking to a darker theme, the tenth studio album is the B-side to her 2019 album. Lover featured tracks like Daylight, whereas the theme of the new album is Midnight. She once told Jimmy Fallon, “How far is too far in advance? Can I hint at something three years in advance? Can I even plan things out that far?”, which led fans to believe that she has been planning this release ever since Lover released.
Will It Be Her Last Album For A While?
It took quite some time for Midnights to arrive. And, fans now believe that the next album is a far-fetched dream now. A TikToker said, “Is anyone else petrified that this might be her last album (other than the re-releases) the title midnight is like the ending of a day, it has 13 tracks about nights ‘scattered throughout my life’.”
The Kanye Connect
One of the songs on the album is titled Karma. It brings back the memories of the secret unreleased Taylor Swift album titled Karma. The album was supposed to be released in 2016, but was reportedly scrapped following the infamous #KimExposedTaylorParty. The Karma song on Midnights is likely a diss track from that secret album and is aimed directly at Kanye West.
Is Swift Queer?
Many fans feel that Betty is a queer song and a way for Swift discussing her identity. Her long-term partnership with Joe Alwyn is winning all hearts, but many think that she is gay or bisexual. The song Lavender Haze is the first track on Midnights, and since the color is frequently used as a symbol of the queer community, fans have drawn this conclusion.
Is She Coming Back On Tour?
Taylor has not been on tour since Reputation, so fans assume that with the release of Midnights, she might get back on the road. Some say that she might have a combined tour or a festival of some sort where she will perform songs from her biggest albums such as Lover, Folklore, Evermore, and Midnights.
