Taapsee Pannu and Anurag Kashyap were all over the news last week for an IT raid that took place at their properties. According to the officials, Kashyap’a now-dissolved company, Phantom, was under the scanner for a tax evasion probe with the involvement of Pannu, Vikas Bahl, and several officials of talent agencies in the same. The actor-director duo was questioned for three days in Pune, and they were heavily trolled on social media for the alleged probe.

While Pannu and Kashyap maintained their silence throughout the investigation, they made sure they give it back to trolls. The actress was the first to share a tweet slamming all the ‘haters’ on social media. Her tweet read, “3 days of intense search of 3 things primarily. 1. The keys of the “alleged” bungalow that I apparently own in Paris. Because summer holidays are around the corner. 2. The “alleged” receipt worth 5 crores to frame n keep for future pitching coz I’ve been refused that money before 3. My memory of 2013 raid that happened with me according to our honourable finance minister.” This tweet came after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated that the same persons were searched in 2013 as well, but it did not lead to a clamour like in the present case.
Kashyap also shared a picture with his Manmarziyaan star, and wrote a subtle caption for all the trolls. “And we restart #DoBaaraa.. with all our love to all the haters..,” talking about being back on the sets of their film after the raid. The filmmaker can be seen sitting on Pannu’s lap in the picture as they pose with a victory sign.
The searches began on March 3, and took place at 30 locations in Mumbai and Pune. Apart from Pannu and Kashyap’s properties, premises linked to a talent agency as well as Phantom Films, which was co-promoted by the director, producers Vikas Bahl and Madhu Mantena, was also searched by the officials. Some celebrity and talent management companies, including KWAN, are also being raided.
