T-Series Addresses Accusations Of Copying Song For 'JugJugg Jeeyo'
‘We have Legal Rights’: T-Series Issues Statement In ‘JugJugg Jeeyo’ Copyright Row

JugJugg Jeeyo stars Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor.

The much-awaited JugJugg Jeeyo trailer was released just a few days ago, and the film landed itself in trouble soon enough. Abrar-ul-Haq, a singer from Pakistan claimed that his song Nach Punjaban was used in the film’s trailer without his permission. He went on to threaten the team and said that he would take legal action against the producers including Karan Johar. T-Series quickly responded to the claims, clearing that nothing of such sort had happened.

In his tweet, Abrar-ul-Haq had mentioned, “I have not sold my song “Nach Punjaban” to any Indian movie and reserve the rights to go to court to claim damages. Producers like @karanjohar should not use copy songs. This is my 6th song being copied which will not be allowed at all. @DharmaMovies @karanjohar.”

T-Series issued a statement that read, “We have legally acquired the rights to adapt the song Nach Punjaban from the album Nach Punjaban released on iTunes on 1st January 2002 and is also available on #LollywoodClassics` YouTube channel, owned and operated by Movie Box Records Label, for the film Jug Jugg Jeeyo produced by Dharma Productions. “

“All due credits shall be included across all platforms when the song releases. As represented by Movie Box Records Label the said song copyrights exclusively vest with Movie Box only with all valid documents.” Earlier, the record label – Movie Box had also consented that the song had been officially licensed to be included in the film.

Meanwhile, another claim against the film was made by a writer. He alleged that the script of his story titled Bunny Rani has been copied by Dharma Productions for JugJugg Jeeyo.

JugJugg Jeeyo marks Neetu Kapoor’s return to movies after nearly seven years. The film also stars Tisca Chopra, Maniesh Paul and Prajakta Kohli in key roles. Backed by Dharma Productions and directed by Raj Mehta, the film is set to hit theatres on June 24, 2022.
