When the trailer for Sushant Singh Rajput’s Dil Bechara was released on July 6, it managed to garner 32 million views on YouTube in just 24 hours. With over 6.4 million likes, it left the trailer for Hollywood blockbuster, Avengers: Endgame in the dust, and became the most liked film trailer on the site.
Now, post its release on Disney + Hotstar, it appears that the film has broken another record. Within mere minutes of its release, the film topped IMDb’s list of top-rated Indian movies. As of writing this article, Dil Bechara has raked in more than 21,000 votes and is rated 9.8/10 on IMDb. The second film on the list is Kamal Haasan and R Madhavan’s 2003 Tamil film Anbe Sivam.
Rajput reportedly died by suicide at his Mumbai apartment on June 14 this year and accelerated conversations about mental health the supposed ‘movie mafia’ in the Hindi film industry.
