After the lukewarm reception of the Obi-Wan series, Star Wars seems to be getting on track. The highly-anticipated prequel Andor started premiering on Disney+ Hotstar today and has already garnered rave reviews.
The hype train left the station last week when critics’ reviews started flooding in, calling Andor the “best Star Wars show” to be made. That is a tall order considering the cult following of the Clone Wars and the recent popularity of The Mandalorian. However, audience reactions on Twitter suggest that the prequel is living up to its potential.
But before we get into that, here’s a brief overview. Andor stars Diego Luna in the lead as Cassian Andor, whom we saw first in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The events of the show take place five years before the Gareth Edwards movie, focusing on Cassian’s life as he goes from being selfish to selfless.
Apart from Luna reprising his role, we will also see the return of Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma along with Forest Whitaker, Anton Valensi, Alex Ferms, Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, and Fiona Shaw. Andor is created and written by Tony Gilroy, who also wrote Rogue One and the Borne movies.
Now, as the audience’s reactions are concerned, here’s what they are saying.
