This morning, everyone was introduced to a new wave of music streaming in India. Apart from the usual, Gaana, JioSaavn, Amazon Music, Google Play Music and Apple Music, the world’s largest music streaming service, Spotify, has now entered India.
So, here is everything you need to know about Spotify in India:
Pricing
Users can listen to the free version of the app, but this experience will not be ad-free. If you want the ad-free version, you need to purchase Spotify premium. Spotify premium can be bought for a time-span of one year, 6 months, three months, one month, one week and even one day.
Spotify premium for one day – Rs. 13
Spotify premium for one week – Rs. 39
Spotify premium for one month – Rs. 129
Spotify premium for three months – Rs. 389
Spotify premium for six months – Rs. 719
Spotify premium for one year – Rs. 1,189
Spotify is also offering the same experience to students for a considerably cheaper price. You will need to confirm if you are enrolled at an accredited college or university. The app will rely on SheerID to verify Student status.
You can pay for your subscription using your credit card, Paytm or Bhim UPI, but the Rs. 39 and Rs. 13 options can only be paid through Paytm or UPI.
But why should you buy the premium service when you can stream the service for free? Because with this premium membership, you get extremely high quality music streaming, offline downloads and no advertisements.
Curated Playlists
Spotify is known for the curated playlists the app creates specially for you. A lot of music streaming apps offer the same, but Spotify has been unmatched when it comes to suggesting songs that perfectly fit the listener based on their listening history and favourite artists.
Artificial intelligence algorithms will be used to curate ‘city playlists’, based on what people in cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai are listening to, reported News18.
Availability
Spotify will also be available almost everywhere. Spotify will be available as apps for your smartphone and tablet (free download for Android and iOS), Windows 10 PCs, macOS computing devices, Android TV, Smartwatches, Sony PlayStation and Microsoft Xbox. You can also use it in your cars as it is also compatible with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
