Biopics have become a popular choice of genre for film-makers. MS Dhoni’s biopic which starrer late actor, Sushant Singh Rajput, was a massive hit amongst the audience. Ever since then sports biopics have gained more momentum. Sourav Ganguly has been in the news for the longest time as many fans have wanted a biopic of his to be made. The cricketer has finally confirmed the news, telling that the work on the film has already started.

“Yes, I have agreed to the biopic. It will be in Hindi but it is not possible to say the name of the director now. It will take a few more days for arranging everything,” Ganguly told News18, confirming the news. The cricketer was quite stern on not letting out any more details about the project but sources suggest that the biopic is being made under a big banner-production house with a budget of around Rs 200 to Rs.250 crore.

 

The sources close to the development also added that the script is currently being written and multiple meetings with Dada have taken place as well. Sources also added that Ganguly is keen on getting Ranbir Kapoor on board for the film.

 

While Kapoor will be the first choice for the makers, it is being said that two other actors are also being considered for the role. Sourav Ganguly’s journey from playing his first match to becoming the BCCI president will be chronicled in the biopic. No information about the release of the biopic has been shared yet.

 

Sourav Ganguly will join the likes of former Indian captains MS Dhoni and Mohammed Azharuddin, whose biopics were warmly received by cricket fans. Director Kabir Khan has also been working with Ranveer Singh on a project based on India’s 1983 World Cup triumph, while biopics of Indian women cricketers, like Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami, are also set to go on floor.
