In 2020, the celebrated artiste was diagnosed as having stage 4 metastatic breast cancer.

Veteran singer and actor Olivia Newton-John took her last breath at her California pad on Monday. The confirmations of her demise came through her Instagram handle. Reports suggest that Newton-John was not in any pain, and was surrounded by family and friends at the time of her death. Her iconic songs like I Honestly Love You and Physical topped the world’s pop music charts during the 1970s and 1980s.

In 1978, she starred in a film named Grease, whose soundtracks are still popular among pop music listeners the world over.

 

Newton-John’s contributions to the field have been lauded with iconic awards. She clinched the prestigious Grammy Award about four times in her career. Newton-John was battling breast cancer for the past 30 years, but never let it get in her way of living life to the fullest. In 2020, the popular singer was diagnosed as having stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. It was in 1992 that she was diagnosed with it for the first time .  

In 2015, the singer-actress opened the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre in Australia. The concept was in collaboration with a local hospital. Newton-John believed in the power of alternative medicine to treat cancer and had spoken at large about the need to shift toward plant-based treatments.

In 2017, Newton-John was informed that cancer in her system had metastasized to her sacrum. The condition caused severe back-related issues, which led to the cancelation of her musical tour, and a grand 70th birthday celebration as well. While it wasn’t a great phase in her life, Newton-John continued to express gratitude toward her husband John Easterling for his unconditional support through it all.

Social media platforms were filled with condolences and tribute posts pouring in from her fans and friends all over the globe. The news of her demise came as a shocker to many, who termed the unfortunate incident as an end of an era in evergreen pop music.
