Shamshera will mark a new journey for Ranbir Kapoor. Not only is he returning to the big screen after a long time, but he will also be seen in a fresh avatar in the film. The makers have been teasing fans with small updates about the Kapoor starrer, with them finally unveiling the trailer today. The trailer looks gripping and you will definitely be impressed with Kapoor’s performance.
The trailer introduces him as a dacoit. A carefree, brave man who will do anything to help his people. Kapoor plays the double role of both the father and son, with the latter on a quest to complete his father’s mission. Sanjay Dutt plays the antagonist, Shuddh Singh. He is employed by the British to find the dacoit and punish him. His villainous look and his scenes with Kapoor look quite remarkable. Vaani Kapoor will be seen romancing our protagonist, as suggested by the trailer.
Shamshera is set in 1871, for which it relies heavily on VFX. No wonder, the film will be released in IMAX. So the makers are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the film looks grand already. The action sequences, the larger-than-life sets, Kapoor and Dutt’s amazing looks speak volumes of the makers’ intent. Twitter users, too, think the same. People flooded the social media platform with love for the trailer and expressed how they are looking forward to the movie.
Here’s What They Said:
Apart from Shamshera, Kapoor will also be seen in Brahmastra which releases in September. The film also stars Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna Akkineni and Mouni Roy in key roles. The actor also has Animal and Luv Ranjan’s untitled film in his kitty. Looking at the list and the recently released trailer of the period film, it is safe to say that 2022 is Kapoor’s year.
Coming back to the film, Shamshera has been directed by Karan Malhotra and backed by Yash Raj Films. The film will hit the theatres on July 22 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu after multiple delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It was slated to release in December 2019, and then in March 2022, but got pushed for a July release finally.
