Amidst all the darkness unleashed by the novel coronavirus, here’s a ray of hope: Aziz Mirza’s 1989 tele series, Circus which introduced us to Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan, has made a comeback on Doordarshan.

“Shekharan is BACK on @DDNational! Friends, #StayAtHome and watch your favourite @iamsrk”s #Circus – TV Series (1989) – From 28th March at 8 pm on @DDNational” DD National tweeted.

The show which also featured Renuka Shahane and Ashutosh Gowariker was directed by Mirza and Kundan Shah. However, it is most noted for marking Khan’s entry into the Hindi film industry.

This comes at a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a 21-day countrywide lockdown to battle the spread of COVID-19. Besides Circus, Doordarshan is also re-releasing Rajit Kapur-starrer detective drama Byomkesh Bakshi.

The hit mythological series Ramayana has already made waves across India on DD National.
