With one Instagram post at a time, the conversation around the reboot of Sex And The City, or SATC, is only getting bigger. Of course, at every point as more information about the filming of the reboot comes to the forefront, so does a “can’t do this without Samantha” remark. But that isn’t stopping anyone from watching these SATC posts, reading every piece that comes up on your Google feed about who is doing what in this reboot.

The 10-episode revival, titled And Just Like That…, will see a bunch of recurring cast members, including Big, Harry, Aidan, Stanford, and Steve (Chris Noth, Evan Handler, John Corbett, Willie Garson, and David Eigenburg).

There have been quite a few developments since we last spoke about the cast that will stay, or those who won’t. Here are a few more nuggets since then that you should know about the SATC reboot, And Just Like That

An inclusive writers’ table

It’s important to keep up with the times, and fix what they didn’t do all that time back — be inclusive. TV Line had reported in February that Michael Patrick King and SATC writer Elisa Zuritsky will work with three non-white writers to craft the scripts: comedian and author Samantha Irby, former Fresh Off the Boat co-executive producer Rachna Fruchbom, and Black Lightning writer Keli Goff. HBO Max chief content officer Casey Bloys reportedly said that Parker and King “didn’t want to tell a story with all-white writers or an all-white cast” because “it’s not reflective of New York.” They want to reflect the way New York looks today, he had added.

Not just that, there have also been additions to the cast. TV Line has also reported that Nixon, Parker, and Davis’ group will be joined by three non-white actors, in an effort to make the show more realistic and inclusive.

The first table read

The first table read of And Just Like That… has already happened, and we know this because Sarah Jessica Parker shared a sneak peek of the table read on June 11. “”Pure coincidence AND JUST LIKE THAT, we find ourselves on this street called Perry the night before it all begins again. MPK, here we go. And I’m thrilled and terrified,” she wrote.

Charlotte has a new dog

Another sneak peek of the filming that has set netizens speculating is the new pet of Charlotte York, played by Kristin Davis. Davis was filming a scene for the reboot with a bulldog, and not Elizabeth Taylor, the adorable Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Everyone wants to know what happened to Elizabeth Taylor.

Covid-19 will be acknowledged

A lot of shows with new seasons (like This Is Us) have acknowledged and shown life during the coronavirus pandemic. Parker told Vanity Fair in an interview that the coronavirus pandemic will “obviously be part of the storyline, because that’s the city [these characters] live in. It makes sense to include the life-changing pandemic in order to connect with today’s reality, after all.

The eccentric wardrobe choices

Any fan of the show knows that the series and the films were notoriously famous for the fashion and style of the leading ladies. Veteran costume designer, Patricia Field, was the brain behind the trend-setting fashion of the SATC cast, but sadly, according to WWD, she has not been able to do the styling for the reboot as she wouldn’t have been able to make it to New York City in time for filming due to being in Paris, working on Emily in Paris, the Parisian-based show created by SATC creator, Darren Star. Molly Rogers is styling And Just Like That.

The first picture that the actors posted on their feed is a shot of the three of them on the streets of NYC, in which Carrie is wearing a high-waisted full gingham skirt by Norma Kamali, paired with a cream silk blouse, a Monrowe hat slung over her shoulders, and Celine heels. Charlotte is spotted in a polka-dot Carolina Herrera blouse with a high-waisted black pencil skirt, and a Lady Dior handbag, and Miranda is killing it in a pair of white wide-legged Vince trousers with a checked long-sleeved lilac and white blouse.

Parker, as Carrie, was also pictured wearing a vintage Claude Montana linen jumpsuit with a zany floral jacket, and a feather hat. The hat started its own conversation and reminded viewers of the feather hat Carrie had worn to her wedding in the first movie, which, well, wasn’t her smartest choice. Meanwhile, another photo of Davis has her looking as Charlotte York as possible, in a blue pleated polka dot skirt by Balenciaga, and a white puff-shoulder top by Stella McCartney, complete with her Burberry leash to walk her English bulldog. Nixon, meanwhile, nails her Mediterranean-inspired look in a multi-coloured striped dress by Dries Van Noten, cinched in with a red belt and some teal canvas wedges.
