The world of web series has given a lot of newcomers a platform to prove their talent while it has also been beneficial for all those forgotten talents, who’ve returned through the medium to make a mark for themselves, again.
This has been true for Rajat Bermecha, who gave an outstanding performance in Udaan, but whose flight didn’t quite take off in Bollywood, thereafter. However, the young man made his comeback with a web series titled Girl in the City, also starring Mithila Palikar, and has stolen a million hearts ever since. Likewise, actor Ali Fazal who became a household name with Bang Baaja Baarat is now starring opposite Judi Dench in the highly awaited Victoria And Abdul.
Other renowned personalities who have tread the web series path are actress Shweta Tripathi and model Lisa Haydon. But now, things are taking a new turn with a number of Bollywood personalities and comedians heading in that direction. So here’s taking a look at the Bollywood brigade that’s trying their luck in the web series format.
Farhan Akhtar
Farhan Akhtar is all set to release a star-studded web series that includes Richa Chaddha, Vivek Oberoi, Sarah Jane Diaz, Angad Bedi, Sanjay Suri, Sayani Gupta among others. According to reports, the backdrop is the Powerplay League (which is a fictional version of the Indian Premiere League) and is set in Mumbai.

Saif Ali Khan
Saif seems to have a lot on his plate. One is Kabir Khan’s The Forgotten Army for Amazon which is based on Subhash Chandra Bose’s Indian National Army and the other one is reportedly an Indian adaptation of The Secret Game.
Kalki Koechlin
She’s known for her unconventional roles on the big screen and now she will be starring in a 12-episode series on the Goan mafia in which she plays a Goan-Portuguese DJ. She’s also made several appearances in the Y-Films web series, Man’s World.
Vir Das
Stand-up comedian and actor Vir Das is collaborating with Nikhil Advani for a web series and according to an interview to a leading daily, he spoke about how the, “digital medium puts lesser pressure on a good story. We don’t have the pressure of a theatrical release, box office, item numbers, etc”.
Other actors who are making a comeback through the medium are Shamita Shetty and Riya Sen whose Bollywood careers didn’t quite take off. Let’s see how they fare in this medium.
