Yesterday Forbes released its list of America’s Richest Self-Made Women in which Rihanna was ranked 21st. This made her the youngest and richest self-made woman in America. According to their list, she is the only person who is under the age of 40. In fact, in April, Forbes announced that she was the world’s richest female musician.
So how does she mint all that money?
Her net worth currently is $1.4 billion and she earns it from her music-related activities and her cosmetic companies. Even though music is what earned her fame, the money majorly comes from her brands like Fenty Beauty, Savage X Fenty and Fenty Skin. In 2020, she bought 50 percent stake in Fenty Beauty for $ 550 million. While in the lingerie brand Savage X Fenty she owns 30 percent stake.
How does she earn through music?
When she started her career as a singer, initially all the money she earned was through it. And today even though she is not too active, she is earning through royalties. She has co-written many of her popular songs and that involvement secures her place to earn as people stream or buy her work. It’s been almost half a decade and yet she is earning through the work she has already done.
Touring has also helped her earn a lot of money. She has headlined seven musical tours and approximately $426 million have been accounted for after the ticket sales of these shows. She charges a fortune when she performs for a private crowd and reportedly, she had earned more than $500,000 once from billionaire Oleg Deripaska. So, who knows how many more such performances have gone undocumented.
Not only music, cosmetics and fashion but she has other sources of income as well
In all these years, she has partnered with a lot of brands which has helped her sustain her net worth. While she has appeared a lot in advertisements, she has partnered with names like Vita Coco, Nivea, Kodak and Budweiser.
On and off she is also seen on TV and in films. She started her acting career with Bring It On: All or Nothing which was the sequel of the teen film Bring It On. Then she went on and did projects like Battleship, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets and then Ocean’s 8 in 2018. She has also hosted a reality design show named Styled to Rock.
She spends at the right places as well
When it comes to giving back to the society, RiRi never takes a step back. In the year 2020, she donated $8 million when funds were needed to find a cure for Coronavirus. She has a foundation named Clara Lionel Foundation which has donated more than $2 million to the abuse victims in Los Angeles.
