Ram Gopal Varma, the man behind cult films such as Satya, Rangeela and Company, is back with the launch of his new venture titled Rai. This film, starring Vivek Oberoi, is based upon the life and times of the underworld don Muthappa Rai, who was known to be the ‘greatest gangster ever’.
Ram Gopal Varma, who is renowned to create unconventional films based on diverse topics, mentioned on Twitter that Rai would be his most expensive film and will be shot in cities such as Mumbai, Dubai, London, Mangalore, Bengaluru and Kazakhstan.
Controversies and the maverick filmmaker, usually go hand in hand; the most recent one being the Twitter post about South superstar Rajinikanth that resulted in a public outrage. RGV was also in the news with his autobiography Guns and Thighs where Boney Kapoor was seemingly upset with the mention of his wife, the iconic superstar Sridevi, in the book as well as the sensational tweets that followed.
Meanwhile, the filmmaker is all geared up for the release of his upcoming film Veerappan based upon the life of the infamous smuggler and bandit, Veerappan. The film is set to release on the 27th of May.
