Ray, which is an upcoming anthology, inspired by the works of acclaimed filmmaker-author Satyajit Ray, has been the talk of the town for quite some time. Knowing that Ray was such a great film-maker, his fans were eager to see what Netflix is offering them with their upcoming film. After a long wait, Netflix dropped the trailer of the anthology today.

It comes as no surprise that the trailer is intriguing and looks quite promising. Viewers are in for a thrilling ride as one will get to see the modern re-telling of four classics by Ray. A mix of some gripping stories and intriguing characters, makes the trailer quite a watch.
Manoj Bajpayee, Ali Fazal, Harshvarrdhan Kapoor, and Kay Kay Menon, are the stars of the four different stories included in this anthology. The main theme of each story remains ‘ego, revenge, envy and betrayal’. The trailer begins with a voice-over asserting that mankind is no less than God, A man gives birth and creates another human, and hence is too is God. We then get to meet Ipsit Nairessayed by Fazal), who is a man with a memory of a computer. Kapoor’s character is of a superstar, who encounters a God woman and is amazed at her popularity. Bajpayee plays Musafir Ali, a ghazal singer, who is on a journey to seek his lost fame whereas Menon’s character, who, despite having a stable job, wants to make a name for himself as a makeup artist.
The anthology revolves around the lives of these four men and how eventually they learn some hard lessons in life. The powerful background score brilliantly sets the tone for the film which will depict the journey of these characters while exploring the multiple shades of the characters.
The four stories are titled ‘Hungama Hai Kyon Barpa’, ‘Forget Me Not’, ‘Bahrupiya’ and ‘Spotlight‘. The trailer ends with the voice-over warning everyone that whenever a man thinks of himself to be God, he has a major downfall, a lesson these characters learn the hard way.
Helmed by Abhishek Chaubey, Srijit Mukherji and Vasan Bala, Ray also features Gajraj Rao, Shweta Basu Prasad, Anindita Bose, Bidita Bag, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Radhika Madan, Chandan Roy Sanyal and Akansha Ranjan Kapoor in key roles. The film will premiere on Netflix on June 25.
