The great epics, Ramayana and Mahabharata, have seen many interpretations in Bollywood in the past, and it seems like a host of film-makers are still eager to bring out new stories influenced by them. The world of mythological characters and tales has only been used for drama purpose in preceding films, but now, film-makers are promising a deeper dive into this world of mythicism with larger productions and sets. Not just Bollywood, the South industry has also been influenced by this wave, and we are surely going to see some significant films in the future.

 

From Deepika Padukone’s Mahabharat, to Akshay Kumar’s Ram Setu to Saif Ali Khan, Prabhas’ Adipurush, a series of films have been announced. While some are in the making, the audience has seen the first glimpse of others. Here is a list of every Bollywood mythological flick to look forward to.

 

Mahabharat

 

We have seen many versions of Mahabharat, and Doordarshan’s show was even amongst the most-watched television shows during the lockdown. But with Deepika Padukone’s film, we will get to see Draupadi’s point of view for the first time. Padukone will be producing the film along with producer Madhu Mantena.

 

Adipurush

 

Another epic in the making is the Saif Ali Khan, Prabhas starrer Adipurush. The film will chronicle the epic tale of Ramayana where we will see Prabhas as Lord Ram and Khan as Lankesh. The film will be releasing on August 11, 2022.

Ram Setu

 

Akshay Kumar has always been associated with great movies, and Ram Setu seems to be an addition to his list. The film is said to revolve around the ideals of Lord Ram, where Kumar will be seen in a new avatar. The film is directed by Abhishek Sharma and produced by Akshay Kumar’s Cape of Good Films.

 

The Immortal Ashwatthama

 

While the ‘How’s The Josh’ fever will still excite his fans, people were impressed after seeing the poster of Vicky Kaushal’s The Immortal Ashwatthama. The three-part film has its roots in the Mahabharata, where we will see Kaushal as a mythological character who is immoral.

 

Brahmastra

 

Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor starrer has been in the making for the longest time. Ayan Mukerji’s ambitious fantasy movie, Brahmastra also has its roots in Hindu mythology. Brahmastra is Lord Brahma’s mythological weapon that played an important role in the war of Mahabharata, and will have an evident significance in the film as well. The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, and Nagarjuna in pivotal roles.
